CARCASSE
Textile, gestural and magical performance about women's clothing.
What a woman must wear to be... taken seriously, comfortable, not too vulgar, not too strict, pretty, sexy, attractive but not too..., beautiful, fashionable, up-to-date, appropriate, presentable, drinkable, feminine, striking, not too extravagant?
In her new upcoming project Carcasse, artist Morgane Widmer explores the social and environmental impact of women's clothing.
Ways of dressing reveal political and cultural practices; they refer to standardised social behaviour, to the culture of appearance and to ideological constructs; in this sense, the way we dress and look is a sign of identity. In this work, artist Morgane Widmer plays with these codes.
