Optimismi is a chain of abstract happenings where virtuoso and creative trio drifts into a playful world of juggling, clowning and music. Controlled chaos springs on stage when amazing juggler Wes Peden meets phenomenal clown Thom Monckton.
Optimismi is about the complicity of simplicity, finding unexpected solutions and surprising aspects. Live music by Niko Votkin, imaginative humor and most inventive juggling create the game of optimism between discovering and messing. Three admittedly brilliant artists create a performance together that will bring some optimism for each spectator!
Thom Monckton (NZ) and Wes Peden (USA) are both todays most inventive circus artists. Thom Monckton has been compared to the physical comedy geniouses like Chaplin, Keaton and Mr Bean. Earlier solo shows for Monckton that Silvennoinen directed, The Pianist ja The Artist, have toured successfully worldwide. Juggler Wes Peden is one of todays most praised jugglers. His energetic, complex, and playful juggling style has won him awards from the International Juggling Association and the festival Cirque de Demain.
Musician-composer multi-instrumentalist Niko Votkin has worked with Finnish contemporary circus companies and he plays drums in groups of famous Finnish pop and rock artists: Ismo Alanko, Jonna Tervomaa and Malla.
